Heritage Day pulls a big crowd

SLEEPER cutting (the hard way), shearing, blacksmithing, butter churning and much more went on display at Merrigum Museum’s recent annual Heritage Day.

There’s nothing like realising how well off we are than to see how things were really done in the ‘good old days’.

Celebrating its 22nd year, it featured demonstrations of skills from yesteryear, with people travelling from as far as Melbourne to attend the event.

‘‘We concentrate on working demonstrations,’’ secretary Florence Halliday said.
