Unleashing the monsters in us

April 20, 2017

The Tatura Community House craft group members Allison, Noela, Anne, Marilyn, Barb and Kerry are getting ready for this year's Monster Garage Sale.

TATURA residents are getting ready to sort through those unused items and offer them up for sale to bargain hunters because it’s Monster Garage Sale time.

Tatura Community House manager Leeane Button said they were once again organising the annual town garage sale to be held on Saturday, May 6, this year.

‘‘The event will showcase the town and aims to attract people from the surrounding areas, as well as getting the locals involved in the day’s Monster Garage Sale,’’ Ms Button said.

‘‘Local businesses will welcome our visitors as well, so come and see what Tatura has to offer.’’

With last year’s sale boasting a whopping more than 60 sites, Ms Button encouraged people to come along as either participants or as welcome visitors.

‘‘Tatura residents can register their garage sale at the Tatura Community House for a $20 fee and receive their information packs,’’ she said.

‘‘All advertising will be done for them, via newspaper advertisements, radio announcements, posters, flyers and large banners on display in Tatura and at the Shepparton/Mooroopna entrances.

‘‘We do all the organising for you.’’

Ms Button said those who did not wish to hold a garage sale could this year book a car boot sale spot on the Community House’s front lawn for the reduced cost of $10.

‘‘If you don’t want a garage sale, but would like to reserve a space on the front lawn to sell your items, please register at the Community House,’’ she said.

Maps showing the locations of all participating garage sales in Tatura will be on sale on the day from 8 am for $2 each.

‘‘Why not come along and also enjoy some early morning breakfast cooked by the Lions Club from 7.30 am onwards,’’ Ms Button said.

‘‘There will be bargains galore for everyone.’’

■The Monster Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 8 am to 2 pm. For inquiries visit The Tatura Community House at 12-14 Casey St, Tatura, or phone 5824 1315 from 9 am to 3 pm.
