DON’T Let Your Mates Drink and Drown — is the latest campaign to come out of the Royal Life Saving Society.

The campaign targets men aged 34 and above who are at the highest risk of drinking and drowning.

Campaspe has become a target for the campaign with the Murray and Campaspe rivers on our doorstep.

‘‘In terms of national blackspots the Murray region is high on our radar as a top priority area,’’ RLSS aquatic risk manager Craig Roberts said.

‘‘It’s been 12-18 months in the making based on research conducted into drownings in the past 10 years, specifically looking at the influences of alcohol.’’

Similar to the drink-driving campaigns, Don’t Let Your Mates Drink and Drown is alerting people of the dangers of mixing alcohol and water through social media, local events, print advertising and key community groups.
