Leader of The Nationals and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is calling for increased police presence and numbers in Kyabram.

A KYABRAM man was taken to hospital after colliding into the back of a tractor near Torrumbarry on May 26.

The 29-year-old man was driving west along Murray Valley Hwy when he ran up the rear end of a tractor towing an air seeder about 5pm near Hatwell Rd.

He was taken to Echuca hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while his car was written off.

The 21-year-old Torrumbarry man driving the tractor was not injured.

Leading Senior Constable Gary Atkins from Campaspe Highway Patrol said the cause of the accident was unknown.

‘‘We don’t know if he was overtaking or what. We’re still investigating,’’ he said.

‘‘Charges are pending.’’

Snr Constable Atkins said police and the ambulance attended, with traffic delayed for about half an hour.
