SIXTY people attended the Anglican Mother’s Union and Caritas morning coffee.

An array of embroidery was contributed by members, including some dating back to the 1920s.

Member Doreen Napier said the day was a success with significant interest in the display.

“A lot of the embroidery was done by our mothers. We have inherited them and followed the interest,” she said.

“It’s positive that some younger people have taken to embroidery. Hopefully it can be passed down and continued.

“Embroidery is something different and it creates interest amongst our members. Even some of the men have an eye for embroidery and can see the beauty.

“The older pieces were done by kerosene lantern. It really makes you appreciate the degree of difficulty when you realise people didn’t have the convenience of electricity like we do.”
