KYABRAM and Rich River had a close encounter last week in Association Croquet.

The doubles was a tightly fought game between Ian and Marjory Grant and Helen Hastie and Anneliese Metzger with all four players making the same mistakes like missing roquets and wiring balls. (Wired balls mean that there is an obstacle such as the centre peg or a hoop preventing you from roqueting your partner’s ball).

The visitors finally took the lead and won the set 16 hoops to 9.

The first singles between Hastie and I Grant was a closely contested match with both players making the same mistakes and finding it hard to make good breaks.

Kyabram had many chances to progress but the lead was snatched away by Grant in his final turn to win 16 hoops to 15.

In the second singles M Grant proved too good for Metzger winning the set 16 hoops to 5.

Rich River won 3 sets 48 hoops to Kyabram no sets 29 hoops.

This week Kyabram will play at Numurkah.
