DESPITE recent rain, the CFA is warning residents to prepare for the fire danger period.

DESPITE recent rain, the CFA is warning residents to prepare for the fire danger period.

District 20 operations officer John Cutting said it’s time for residents to clean up their properties.

‘‘It is time to throw away all the wood and flammable products from their properties, including mowing long grass before it dries,’’ he said.

After a spate of uncontrolled burn-offs in the region, residents are reminded it is illegal to burn off in an urban environment.

‘‘I’d like to remind everyone who does a burn-off to register it with the Burn-off Notification Line on 1800 668 511,’’ he said.

‘‘The fire danger period has not yet been enforced, but it is expected to begin within the next four to six weeks.’’
