POLICE are searching for a vehicle that reportedly reached speeds of as much as 210km/h as it raced towards and through Kyabram at the weekend.

‘‘On Saturday, around 3.30 pm, a vehicle was detected travelling at an unsafe speed along McEwan Rd, towards the Kyabram township,’’ Campaspe Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Frank Scopelliti said.

‘‘The vehicle reached speeds between 175 km/h and 210 km/h as it approached and drove through Kyabram and at the time it was deemed to be unsafe to road users for the police to engage in a pursuit.’’

But police did say that the purple Holden Commodore VX sedan or similar had false registration plates reading 1GV 7NQ.

‘‘The vehicle is very distinctive and any information may also save lives,’’ he said.

Police are confident because of the vehicle’s make and colour many people would know who owns it.

Anyone with information should contact Campaspe Highway Patrol on 5483 1500 or submit a confidential report to Crime Stoppers at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
