THE state government is helping communities honour the sacrifice of our veterans and giving their families the support they deserve.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp is encouraging communities and organisations to apply for funding through the Victoria Remembers Minor Grants Program.
This program aims to help communities honour the legacy of Northern Victoria’s veterans and give veterans’ families new opportunities to study.
“We’re so proud of our veterans in Northern Victoria. We have a significant wartime legacy and it’s our duty to preserve these memories for future generations to cherish,’’ Mr Gepp said.
The program provides funding of up to $30,000 for projects that honour or commemorate the sacrifice of veterans and educate Victorians about their service and contribution to our nation and state.
This could include new war memorials, commemorative events, public education projects and the preservation of wartime heritage.
“This is about giving our communities opportunities to share information about how our veterans’ service has helped shape our nation,” Mr Gepp said.
Grants are also available to provide funding to organisations to assist with the educational needs of veterans’ dependants.
Applications close December 11. For more information or to apply online visit dpc.vic.gov.au/veterans
