THE Golden Wattle mobile service centre is visiting Kyabram to offer people easy access to government payments and services.
The centre offers access to essential government services including Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support to rural Australians – all on board a 20 tonne mid-range rigid truck.
Golden Wattle is operated by staff from the Department of Human Services who provide friendly face-to-face service, information and support tailored to each community.
“It’s an important service because it gives people in regional Victoria the chance to have a face-to-face conversation with Human Services employees who can help them access services,” mobile service centre trip manager Jennifer Jeffery said.
‘‘Also, for residents who may be having problems accessing the internet we have free Wi-Fi to allow people to submit their documents and claims online.”
Staff can help with a range of services, including lodging Centrelink claims, Medicare registrations, providing access to online services and offering free hearing checks on board.
A social worker from the department will also be available on board the trip who can assist with offering short-term counselling and referrals to support services.
The service will be visiting Kyabram on tomorrow from 9.30am until 2pm, located opposite Kyabram Community and Learning Centre on Lake Rd.
