RESIDENTS and businesses across the Shire of Campaspe will be affected by changes to waste, recycling and green waste collections over Christmas and New Year.
With a number of declared public holidays during the festive period, council’s waste and recycling service provider, Veolia, has had to change a couple of collection days. It affects households and businesses that normally have their rubbish, recycling or green waste collected on a Monday.
Mayor Adrian Weston said the changes would affect households and businesses in Echuca, Kyabram, Tongala and the rural areas surrounding Lockington.
“If your bins are collected on a Monday, this applies to you, so take note,” Cr Weston said.
“For two weeks, collections will be done a few days earlier than normal. This means you will need to put your bins out on the Friday evening prior to collection on the Saturday.”
Cr Weston urged affected residents to make note of the changes and talk to others about it.
For business owners and householders across the shire who have their rubbish and recycling collected on all other days, there is no change.
If for some reason a collection is missed, residents can take their rubbish to the Echuca Environment Centre or transfer stations at Colbinabbin, Mount Scobie, Rochester and Rushworth for a fee. Opening hours can be found on council’s website.
