GARGAYEE Satish-Gowda and Ada Heenan live the ordinary bits of life in an extraordinary way.
Quick to open a door for someone, quick to greet people with a sunny smile, these best friends endeavour to keep the glass half full for everyone they meet.
The two Year Six students from St Augustine’s College were recently recognised for making a positive difference in their community, awarded a Fred Hollows Humanity Award.
The honour celebrates students who show compassion, integrity and kindness in their everyday lives.
Gargayee and Ada were nominated by their teachers.
‘‘We always try to be nice and helpful and to respect everyone and put people in front of ourselves,’’ Ada said.
The girls said they were blown away to both receive the award.
‘‘I was so surprised. I didn’t even know until the last minute,’’ Gargayee said.
As for the future, it’s no surprise that it looks bright for these two sunny personalities.
‘‘We just want to enjoy right now and have fun together,’’ Gargayee said.
