KYVALLEY fell hard to KLTC Orange in the KDMLTA midweek ladies grand final in a 31-12 defeat.
The section one battle saw the Kyvalley ladies only able to win one set for the whole game as KLTC Orange kept the pressure on to win by a landslide.
Kyvalley’s Melissa Williams said the team knew there was no chance of clawing back.
“We lost terribly. We weren’t expecting to get into the grand final so when we did, we knew we had a rough day ahead,” she said.
“The Ky Lawn team are a very strong team so we were realistic about where we would get to.”
The ladies started strong with Kate Doherty and Norita Clarke managing to steal a set from KLTC, but that was where it ended.
“Kate and Norita started strong and so we thought it may not be too bad, but it turned out it was the only set for the day,” she said.
In section two, Tongala took on KLTC White and came out on top by two in what was some proper grand final action.
The Tongala ladies took out three sets to seal the deal, 32-28.
“The ladies went really well and the fact that it was such a close game made it all the more interesting. That’s what grand finals are all about,” Tongala’s Pam Schmedje said.
“There was no real standout but everyone put in a solid effort which made for a great game, it really could have gone either way.’’
