Muster is back

DUST off your ukulele and warm up your vocal chords — the iconic Girgarre Moosic Muster is back next weekend.

A highlight of calendars across the region, the four-day festival will take over the Girgarre Memorial Hall from Thursday, January 11 to Sunday, January 14.

Featuring concerts, open mics, community jamming sessions, markets and 40 fantastic workshops run by expert tutors, there’s something for everyone. Plus each music event is free.

‘‘The workshops are designed for people who just want to give music a go,’’ festival co-ordinator Jan Smith said.

‘‘We believe music is for everyone, and that’s why we’ve made the muster all about participating, not just sitting on your bum and watching — we’re very one-of-a-kind in that way.

‘‘It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather with like-minded people. It’s joyful, the clatter and the music and laughter coming through the trees.’’
