The Ford v Holden rivalry will take to the streets of Kyabram next month for the inaugural Legends of the Mountain.
Organised by the Lions Club with local revheads Chris and Sheryl Hatch (pictured front), this unmissable weekend will feature some of motor racing's biggest names.
“WE’RE expecting hundreds of cars at this point, if the weather’s good.”
The show and shine will also feature House of Muscle and Peter Brock Merchandise trucks for your purchasing pleasure.
Sheryl said the weekend had received a fantastic response already, with only a few precious tickets left for the Saturday evening with Bathurst legends.
“It’s been a huge public response so far, ticket sales are almost exhausted, local accommodation is basically full and we have cars coming from Melbourne, NSW and beyond,” she said.
‘‘This event is huge for the town and will really put us on the map. And all proceeds go to local charity.”
The concept was hatched by Melbournite Colin Crane, who Chris and Sheryl met through the Aussie Torana Legends Social Cruisers.
“His Torana group came up to Ky a few times and we kept on discussing the possibility of an event like Legends of the Mountain,” Sheryl said.
“The next thing we were doing it. Steve Whyte from WD Motorsports got on board as well and we formed a committee. We then started looking for help and the Ky Lions Club were amazing and put their hands up right away.”
Chris and Sheryl said Jayell Ford, Thompson Holden, Campaspe Shire, Corporate Shadows, Mr Embroidery and Advanced Computing were among the numerous sponsors.
The evening with Bathurst legends will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 6.30 pm at the Kyabram Bocce Club.
Sunday’s show and shine will be held at the Kyabram Showgrounds on February 25 from 8 am to 2 pm.
Entry is $85 per head for both Saturday and Sunday events. Tickets for Saturday evening are selling fast, so book soon.
Entry for Sunday only is $10 per car.
