KYABRAM Cricket Club will be seeking to remain undefeated and complete a hat-trick of wins in Cricket Shepparton’s Twenty20 competition when it hosts Mooroopna at Kyabram in a day-night clash tomorrow night.

The match starts at 7pm.

In a recruiting coup Kyabram will have former Victorian all-rounder Jayde Herrick in its line-up along with local sports hero Paul Newman. Each club in the competition can play two players by invitation.

Kyabram Cricket Club president Andrew Porch said his club was looking for a big crowd to attend what should be an entertaining game.

‘‘There will be a barbecue and refreshments available at the game and everyone is invited to come.’’

■ Brothers Cade and Kyle Mueller batted Kyabram to their second win in this competition last Thursday against Old Students at Kialla, Shepparton.

Cade slammed an unbeaten 81 with four sixes and seven fours and Kyle chipped in with a quickfire 30 as Kyabram, batting first, posted 5/155.

Old Students were still in the game in the concluding stages but came up five runs short after needing 18 runs in the last over to get over the line.

Kyabram skipper Alec Young continued his big year, taking 4/21 off four overs to tip the scales in his side’s favour with the ball .

Kyabram played two invitees — Fire Brigade star Paul Newman and Nathalia’s Luke Quinn — in the game.

■ In its opening round match in this competition, Kyabram accounted for Shepparton United with Cade Mueller the batting star again.

Opening the innings he top scored with 54 off 43 balls with four fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Alec Young (not out 30) and Kyle Mueller (not out 20) as Kyabram posted 3/124 to cover United’s score with four overs to spare.
