LOCAL drivers with registration renewals from January 1 can take advantage of the Victorian government’s switch to short-term vehicle registration.
Drivers now have the option of registering their vehicles in new, flexible periods of three or six months or remain on 12-month renewals.
Owners of cars, utes, vans, motorcycles and other light vehicles are now able to make the switch to shorter term registration, or continue with an annual registration fee by creating a myVicRoads account.
Creating an account will allow owners to choose the registration option that suits them, and receive electronic reminders when it is due.
Under the new arrangements an average three-month registration will be $200.20, an average six-month registration will cost $400.40, compared to an average annual fee of $800.80.
