KYABRAM Cricket Club has announced that former Victorian and Melbourne Renegades fast bowler Jayde Herrick will play with the club when it faces Mooroopna tomorrow night.
The game will be a Twenty20 match as part of Shepparton Cricket’s ‘Love The Game’ promotion.
The Redbacks confirmed Herrick’s appearance via their Facebook page on Sunday night.
“Jayde will play,” committee member Tim Nelson said.
“He has family back here in Kyabram so we made that connection and as far as we are aware he will be playing.”
Herrick played 19 first-class matches – his last in 2013 — taking 77 wickets at an average of 31.
The fiery fast bowler was known for his white headband and on-field antics and will accompany Fire Brigade Cricket Club opening batsman Paul Newman as the two imports for Kyabram.
Nelson said the club was looking forward to making the game a spectacle.
“We are running our sponsors night that night too so we are hoping to draw a big crowd down there to support the boys,” Nelson said.
“It’s not often we get a cricket game under lights here and to also land a name like Jayde Herrick – we are hoping lots of people come down.”
Kyabram will look to make it three wins from three when it takes on Mooroopna after accounting for Shepparton United and Old Students in rounds one and two of the T20 competition respectively.
The match starts at 7pm and will be free entry to all in attendance.
