FIVE motorists across Campaspe tested positive for alcohol or drugs over the Australia Day long weekend.
Police carried out 213 random breath tests over the four days as part of Operation Amity, which also detected 21 traffic offences.
Sergeant Paul Nicoll of Campaspe Highway Patrol said although there were no serious or fatal collisions in Campaspe Shire, one of its highway vans attended a collision involving a car and motorbike in Elmore about 10am on January 27.
A male motorcylist from Girgarre was flown to the Alfred Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause is under investigation.
‘‘Otherwise the traffic was busy but because it was so hot, everyone just took their time and was very well behaved,’’ Sgt Nicoll said.
