You’ll be floored - Carpet pulled up at town hall

THE Kyabram Town Hall is undergoing a facelift.

With the Women of Empire exhibition on its way to the Town Hall, the carpet has been ripped up to reveal the glorious timber floors beneath.

Curator Isobel Harvie said replacing the carpet had been a long time coming.

“It just needs to be sanded back now, it’s something we have wanted to do ever since we took over the town hall but we couldn’t do it until we signed the lease so now we are moving forward with it,” Mrs Harvie said.

“We are thrilled the floor is getting done, it will mean that everything I had on my bucket list when my husband and I took over the town hall will have been completed so that’s pretty exciting.”

The town hall will be hosting the Art for Everyone, Masquerade Ball and Women of Empire-themed exhibitions in the near future and Mrs Harvie urged the community to get behind each of them.

“We had the people from Women of Empire down here and they were impressed by the space and they said they will be able to bring a lot more stuff than they imagined,’’ she said.

“Whatever we make out of our exhibitions goes straight back into the hall so this is just an example of the difference it can make.

“The town should really know what is going on down here and people should get behind it and support it.”
