HARLIE Reid wrestled a Gator and won at Ky Sports Centre on Monday night.

As the clock spun to its conclusion in Years 7-9 division of Basketball Kyabram, Reid thrust a perfect dagger from beyond the three-point arc which exasperated an inspired Gators’ charge.

The Kyabram Bakery Gators looked dead and buried until Darcy Backway and Ivan de Leon caught alight to help their general Oliver Watt (15) haul in a double figure deficit over the last eight minutes of the match.

Although Darcy didn’t score, he energised his team by running and passing the ball past defenders and to near the ring where big man Ivan de Leon (12) capitalised.

Brodie Luckman also upped his work rate in defence to harass the Raptors’ ball carriers and upset their tempo.

Watt swished his own three-pointer to level the scores 33-33 with 30 seconds remaining on the clock, and it appeared overtime was on the cards.

But then the miraculous happened: Harlie (7) nailed the game-winning triple.

Other notable Mister Embroidery Raptors Gator hunters were Rhys Shay (12), Ryan Hatch (9), Blake McAuliffe (4) and Hollie Reid (4).

With Jarom Owen-Horn (26), James Myers (17) and Charlotte Freemantle (2) running rampant, the Betta Homeliving Hornets scored their second win of the season when they defeated Walker Real Estate Wildcats 45-21.

The Hornets always had the contest in their keeping, despite the best efforts of Wildcats’ duo Sam Plumb (10) and Will Hooper (8).

In 5/6 division, Fab Flowers Hornets were penalised six points for arriving on court late, and lost 16-17 to ACM Raptors.

The scorers for Hornets were Archer Guinan (6), Cohan Hooper (6), Steven Bassett (2) and Liam Parr (2).

For the winning Raptors, Jack Watson (6) and Ky McDonald (6) were their team’s only scorers.

The other 5/6 division match was a tight affair until Infinity Health Gators kicked into gear late in the game to run away with a 29-17 victory over Aldon Tutoring Wildcats.

Scorers: Gators - Bill Hipwell (10), Jim Hipwell (7), Archer Backway (6), Archie Watt (4) and Darcy Ramadan (2). Wildcats - Ali Hall (14), Bryce Broadhurst (2).

In 1-4 division, Kyabram Veterinary Clinic Raptors made a late charge at Amcal Pharmacy Gators, but the Gators held on for a 30-24 victory.

Scorers: Gators - Clarry Talbot (8), Archer Backway (6), Joanna Parr (6), Ashton Thompson (4), Jimmy Goff (4). Gators - Cooper Wilson (10), Cooper Rodriquez (8), Katie Barnes (4), Jack Perrella (2).

Reigning premiers Peter Walsh Hornets won a spirited contest against Albion Motors Wildcats 30-26.

Scorers: Hornets - Sam Mongan (22), Logan Green (6), Baylee Letizia (2). Wildcats - Jimmy Hargreaves (14), Alex Barnes (10), Brody Thompson (2).
