IF JOEL Fitzgerald had to describe the taste of success he’d say it tastes like lamb.
With the best sausages in Victoria and now the second-best in Australia, the team at Fitzgerald’s Farm Fresh Meats is celebrating the acclaim from the Australian Meat Industry Council.
It was their winning combination of grassfed Australian lamb with roasted capsicum, sundried tomato, spinach and feta which got them across the line statewide and second-placed nationally in the Sausage King competition.
And while Joel is ecstatic with the news, the team has their sights set on this year’s competition, which starts next month.
“The regionals are coming up so we’re digging up different recipes for some of our other varieties,” he said.
“So we won’t be changing anything major with the lamb sausages because they’re winners.
“But we want to see if we can get other varieties and flavours into the finals.”
For now the team will be enjoying the taste of success.
