Feathers, frocks and magnificent masks

Isobel Harvie is excited to show off her current exhibition.

ISOBEL Harvie is having a ball — and she’s showing it.

Her current exhibition at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery, Masquerade Ball, is on show until June 30.

Feathers, frocks and elaborate masks fill the gallery space, some being about 150 years old.

“These dresses are amazing, some were part of the ballroom collection but many of them haven’t been seen by the public,” she said.

“We have dresses from all eras and we’ve tried to match the masks up with them and they’re all beautiful in their own way.”

She said the show took quite a bit of effort to construct — and she couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

“We had to make some of the masks ourselves because there weren’t any available,” she said.

“So there are a lot of hats and handkerchiefs set up just to add a bit extra to the displays.

“It’s not as full as I would usually have it but that’s because there’s so much to look at, such as the masks.”

The exhibition features about 35 dresses and Isobel has “roomed off” the chandelier room, which holds a dress from 125 years ago.

“It’s in such great condition after all these years, it’s just terrific,” she said.

She’s just as proud to show off a feather headpiece she made (pictured).

Kyabram Town Hall Gallery is open from 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday. For more information visit or call 5852 1546.
