THE Croquet Club held its final twilight event on March 22, as daylight saving draws to a close.

There were only 10 people in attendance but that did not put a damper on the players.

Three games of doubles were played on the B grade courts once again due to the reseeding etc of the first A court. The games were timed, either finishing on the bell or best of 13 hoops, whichever came first.

The scores were fairly even again this week but one player stood out from the rest, finishing well ahead of the second placegetters by seven hoops.

The overall winner was Rayleen McDonald with 23 hoops, in front of Sue Agosta, 16 hoops, closely followed by Jane Cox and Peter Keath on 15 hoops.

Margaret Sullivan was the only player to score a hoop-in-one and there were no successful jump shots recorded — although there were many attempts.

The club held a fundraising barbecue at Bunnings Echuca last weekend through all kinds of weather to help raise funds for the courts upgrade. We would like to give a big thank you to Stewart, Belinda and Greg for giving up their time to help the members available, as it would have been a very long day without them.

Cameron Kelly and Margaret Sullivan will travel to Shepparton in a couple of weeks to take part in the GVCA Regional Championships. Good luck to you both.

KCC will continue with social play on Monday mornings from 9am for the next few weeks. This time is also open to the general public to come and try a mallet sport. All equipment will be supplied, please wear flat-soled shoes.

Any further queries can be made by contacting Margaret on 5853 1362 or Rayleen 5853 2394. Or email [email protected]
