A YOUNG Kyabram woman is heartbroken after her car was stolen while she was camping.
Jemma Fry had parked her 1997 VS Commodore at the intersection of Old Barmah Rd and Barbers Rd in Moama about 3.30pm on Saturday.
The 21-year-old locked her car and left it there so she wouldn’t get bogged before being picked up in a 4WD for the 3km journey to the campsite on Barbers Rd.
‘‘I returned the next morning at 10am and it was gone,’’ she said.
‘‘There was no broken glass as I checked for that.’’
Jemma said she didn’t know how someone could do such a thing.
‘‘This has affected me a lot. I’m heartbroken that this has happened,’’ she said.
‘‘I’ve had the car for six years and I’ve put so much effort into it. It’s all I have. I lost both my parents at a young age.
‘‘My car is my world, it’s helped me get everywhere. I also have to look after my sister and I do a lot of driving for her as well.
‘‘I struggle to get around without a car.’’
She said she had received offers of help since the theft and thanked everyone for their support.
Jemma has reported the theft to her insurance company and police who are now investigating.
The car is a light blue colour with black rims and the registration number is 1IQ7TL.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Moama police on 5482 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
