KYABRAM locals will make every cuppa count in the 25th year of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea this May or June by hosting a tea for Cancer Council Victoria.
This year’s official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday May 24, but events can be held throughout May and June.
Cancer Council Victoria is hoping to recruit 7900 hosts with the aim of raising $3.3 million for cancer research, prevention programs and support services.
On average 280 people are diagnosed with cancer in Campaspe Shire every year – the funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will help provide support to them as well as their families and friends.
Head of Fundraising at Cancer Council Victoria, Andrew Buchanan, said Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea hosts have had an incredible impact on cancer outcomes in 25 years.
“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea supporters have raised more than $30 million since the event began in 1994, helping to increase Victoria’s cancer survival rates by almost 20 per cent,” Mr Buchanan said.
“Every minute, every hour, every day someone is impacted by cancer – and with the support of the community we are able to continue our vital work in cancer research, prevention and support services.
“We invite every Campaspe Shire resident to join thousands of others across the state hosting events in their homes, offices and schools.”
