A MAN who was caught speeding while on a suspended licence has been convicted and fined $750.

Kyabram’s Teaguen Dellar pleaded guilty in Echuca Magistrates Court to speeding and driving while suspended.

Police prosecutor acting Sergeant Sally Mannell said the accused was pulled over on the Princess Fwy, south of Melbourne on January 18.

‘‘The accused was observed by police driving a Kia Sport hatchback at approximately 75km/h,’’ she said.

‘‘The stretch of road is a 60km/h zone.

‘‘The police officers used a prescribed device and the alleged speed was 71km/h.’’

Dellar was intercepted and checks revealed he had a suspended licence.

‘‘When asked what his reason was for speeding he said ‘ignorance’,’’ Acting Serg. Mannell said.

Magistrate Dr Michael King said he wouldn’t take Dellar’s licence for any more time.

‘‘But you do have a lead foot don’t you,’’ he said.

‘‘Do it again and you will be off the road for a longer period of time.’’
