THIS Sunday Girgarre will be engulfed in a sea of pink for the very first Mother’s Day Classic.
Everyone is invited along to walk the 4km route in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Thanks to the support of local business Forbes and Summers, organiser Sandy Fletcher along with Girgarre Community Cottage’s Kezia Talbot are hoping locals will come along and show support.
“I thought this is the best way to raise money and raise awareness — I want to do something but I don’t have thousands of dollars to donate,” Sandy said.
Being the inaugural event, Sandy and Kezia aren’t sure what to expect but say they’d be happy with 30 people attending
“We appreciate everyone’s support and encourage them to come and walk,” Sandy said.
Merchandise will be available on the day for a donation as well as free tribute cards to wear.
Registration on the day begins at 7.30am on May 13 at the cenotaph on Station St, Girgarre for an 8.30am start.
Registrations can be completed online or at the post office in Girgarre. It costs $20 for adults and $10 for children/concession, or on the day, $25 for adults and $15 for children/concession however there will be no Eftpos available.
