Mayor Adrian Weston said the purpose of the overall project was threefold: to promote cycling across the shire, improve safety of cyclists and raise awareness to motorists of cyclists preferred routes.

CYCLING routes in Kyabram have been identified and highlighted via an online digital GPS enabled map as part of the Campaspe Shire Oppy Cycle Tour Project.

Kyabram has four routes ranging from 33-77km loops.

Part-funded by the TAC, the project maps out cycling routes across the Shire of Campaspe via a detailed online map as well as a printed version available to the community and visitors to the area, with signage installed throughout high use routes.

Mayor Adrian Weston said the purpose of the overall project was threefold: to promote cycling across the shire, improve safety of cyclists and raise awareness to motorists of cyclists preferred routes.

“Cycling is a growing recreational pastime and our beautiful country landscape provides the perfect backdrop for routes for all abilities,” Cr Weston said.

The community, in particular cycling groups, clubs and businesses, were consulted to assist in identifying the routes. Council then engaged a wayfinding consultant to develop the online map and a printed version, which is available at visitor information centres.
