Liz snapped it up

June 13, 2018

Liz Westerveld is packing up her Allan St shopfront to work from home.

YOU don’t always get what you dreamed of, but Liz Westerveld has.

As the owner of Kyabram Photoworks, Liz has been helping customers five and a half days a week for the past seven years — and loving it.

“It was something I wanted to do for ever. I worked in a mini-lab for a part-time job while I was in high school and so when the opportunity came up to buy this business I went for it,” she said.

“I love it and I love photography, I wanted to get more into the photography side but I just didn’t have time with the business.”

However her days are about to become slightly more free, she’s moving out of her shop on Allan St to spend more time at home and to help her two children as they get to the pointy end of high school.

She’ll still be the go-to for everything printing, framing and restoring — just working out of home.

“I’ve met wonderful people — both on the supply side and customer side — who I can call great friends,” Liz said.

And it’s clear customer service has always been central to the business, being nominated twice for the Campaspe Shire business awards.

“Customer service is always my priority and it’s gotten to a point where they’re not customers any more, they’re friends,” she said.

“I feel as though I’m letting them down by closing the shop front.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me, I honestly can’t stress it enough,” she said.

“It’s sad that I’m shutting the doors but it’s a new avenue.”

And she said she already has a loyal following who have a framing job or two lined up for her after she closes the doors on June 30.
