PEAK hour in Rushworth took on a whole new meaning last Wednesday as steam engines completed a slow motion run to the Echuca Steam Rally.
Stopping in for a quick kip last Tuesday, it was up bright and early to get the fires lit and engines turning.
The run, which featured five behemoths, set off from Nagambie, heading through Girgarre and Nanneella on the way to Echuca.
They headed along to join a nostalgic — and occasionally whacky — collection of power plants from yesteryear for the 55th rally.
Speaking to the Free Press last Wednesday, rally director Cliff Downey said the Rotary Club was expecting a strong steam showing.
“There are engines coming from all around, we have one from Leeton and another coming from Heyfield, but there are a few coming from the local district too,” he said.
The Echuca Steam Rally was held last weekend.
