Jeramie and Winston play a hole lot of golf

By David Rak

THE Longest Day lived up to its name for Jeramie Hipworth and Winston Waters.

The golfing duo teed off at 6am on December 21 for a marathon 12 hours of golf at Parkland Golf Club and raised more than $1000 for skin cancer research in the process.

The Longest Day golf marathon is an endurance golf challenge designed to test skill, strength and stamina, while raising much needed funds for world-class skin cancer research, funded by Cancer Council Victoria.

Golfers are challenged to successfully complete 72 holes of golf between dawn and dusk in exchange for sponsorship.

The pair completed their final round at 5.30pm and Jeramie said the last few holes were a struggle.

“It became pretty hard to swing on the last few holes. The whole body was sore,” he said.

“But it was worth it because we’re very pleased to have raised some money for a worthy cause.

‘We are very grateful for everyone who got behind us and donated. We couldn’t have done it without them.

“It was a great day and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. I’m looking forward to doing it again.”
