Kyabram Country Music Festival Committee donates $5000 to KDHS
THE Kyabram Country Music Festival Committee has once again shared the success of its annual event with the community by donating a $5000 cheque to KDHS’s dialysis unit.

The funds were handed over by members of the committee outside KDHS last Wednesday, and will go towards a new portable ultrasound machine.
The handheld machine is designed to provide a safer and easier method of delivering treatments to the hospital’s patients.
KDHS renal dialysis co-ordinator Megan Rasmussen said the donation would go a long way towards an improved level of efficiency for staff and patients.
“It was actually quite a surprise when I got the email to be informed that we were receiving the donation,” she said.
“We don’t get them very often, so it is quite a privilege when we do get them from the community.
“From me and my staff and the patients we’d just like to thank the committee for their donation.”
Committee president Allan Weeks said giving back to the community was one of the most rewarding parts of organising such an event.
“There are people that have to go to Echuca or Shepparton … so we thought if we could get another machine in Kyabram it’s going to help the locals and keep them in Ky a bit longer,” he said.
“That was one of the main reasons why we decided to go for the dialysis unit here at the hospital.”
Last year the committee donated funds from the 2018 event to the Kyabram Town Hall and Kyabram Men’s Shed, and Mr Weeks said it would continue to help out local community organisations for as long as possible.
“The festival started off when we were having a severe drought to bring people to Kyabram to give the businesses a lift and it’s still doing that, so it’s spreading out now,” he said.
“It’s not only the businesses but also the hospital that’s benefitting.”
