History Hour has become a regular feature at the Federation Museum, Queen Street Corowa, on the third Thursday of each month during autumn and spring starting at 2pm.
There will be a different speaker each month. Topics covered over the years have included the history of the ambulance in Corowa and the experiences of an ambulance officer, the coming of the water supply to Corowa, the 50th anniversary of Corowa High School, five generations of the Sanger family clothing, the Corowa telephone exchange, 1968 footy grand final, the Corowa saleyards, the Wilmot pharmacy and plenty more.
Mr Wright has recently been awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services to the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association through his membership of the Corowa Rescue Squad.
Mr Wright is one of three life members of the Corowa Rescue Squad and as such is well qualified to talk about the history of the club and his experiences with it over nearly 40 years. All members of the public are invited to come along to the museum on Thursday, March 21 at 2pm to hear Peter talk.
This is a free event and will be followed with a cup of tea/coffee and June’s Anzac biscuits. Visitors will also be able to check out the display recently set up around Talbot’s milk cart and the childhood memories display if you haven’t already seen it.
