All teams took to the field against the Wangaratta Magpies using white footballs while the club was proud to make public announcements to help raise awareness of the White Ribbon campaign against domestic violence.

Pride was also restored for the senior team who pushed the highly touted Wangaratta Magpies for most of the contest before eventually going down by 28 points.
The club was also proud to raise a banner for Jimmy O’Connell for his 100th game played last week, and cheer Jack Bates onto the ground for his 50th appearance.
The ball was camped in the Roos forward line for the first twelve minutes of the first quarter but only behinds resulted until Alex Wallis dobbed a set shot.
The Roos were applying immense pressure on the Maggies with Jamie Seymour and Jack Schilg leading the way.
The Magpies replied soon after until Tyson Logie regained the lead for the Roos.
A couple of whistles going against the Roos saw them trail by seven points at quarter time.
The Roos endeavor was obvious in the second quarter and two goals to Hayden Filliponi saw them head to the change rooms just eight points in arrears.
Tim Brook, Kade Kuschert and Jarred Lane all doing a mountain of work.
Leigh Schulz was unable to take to the field in the second half and was sorely missed, but that only seemed to further inspire Tyson Logie and Rohan Davies, among others, to fight out the game ferociously.
Joe Hansen also sprung into gear to help the Roos outscore the Maggies in the last quarter. Unfortunately the third quarter let them down when the Maggies managed five goals to the Roos solitary major.
Billy Raggett and a slightly underdone Shane Tregear both returned from injury but the Roos were again without playmaker Andrew Pretto who the club expects to be available for their home game against Myrtleford following the general bye this Saturday.

Reserves
There was plenty to like about the Roos Reserves who kept one of the highest ranking teams to a tally below 100 points.
The surprising re-emergence of Matt Witherden who came out of retirement for the umpteenth time didn’t disappoint when he laid one of his trademark crunching tackles early in the game.
Luke Maloney gave the opposition a lesson on small-man elusive forward play finishing with three goals for the game.
The Roos applied plenty of pressure on the Maggies to trail by just three points at quarter time and the ball spent equal time at both ends for the first half.
But it was the Maggies that made the most of their forward entries, and then extended their lead for each of the last two quarters.
Cody Kuschert and Sam Severin impressed with their athleticism and aerobic capacity, paving the way for the Roos midfielders in James Tanner, Harley Ralph, Sam Haigh, Beau Schilg and Pete Whyte to rack up plenty of possessions. Nick Clifton deserves a mention for his fifty metre hustle against two opponents to get the ball to the boundary.
Corowa Rutherglen 3.5.23 v Wang Magpies 14.15.99
Goals: L. Maloney 3
Awards: C. Kuschert, M. Witherden, S. Maloney, J. Tanner, P. Whyte, H. Ralph
Thirds
It was always going to be a tough gig against the ladder leaders especially with almost half the team unavailable and Jordan Eyers off the field after half time.
The most that could be expected was a genuine effort from the group, and they gave just that in a much improved display compared with last week.
Deaken Clancy was the first to goal for the Roos after Wang had landed the first four.
The Roos took it right up to the opposition in the second quarter and had a couple of running shots that just missed the mark.
They also restricted Wang to just one goal for the term, however, they had all the answers in the second half and posted a solid win.
Hayden Weller, Luke Backhouse and Will Seymour all put in some fantastic chases to run their opponents down despite the discrepancy on the scoreboard.
Ryan Eyers, Josh Bartlett, Nathan McDonald, Jordan McKenzie and Blake Spencer all drew praise from the coach for their efforts.
Thanks to the handful of U16 players that stood up to the challenge once again and showed their true club spirit by helping out their slightly older team mates.

Roos News
Some great news at the club with several prominent players already signing for the 2020 season.
This includes Jamie Seymour and assistant coach Rohan Davies who have publicly announced they will not accept player payments next season while others have taken a pay cut to allow the club to lure quality key position players for the future.
This is a wonderful gesture by the highly respected Jamie and Rohan.
Rohan was a high profile recruit to the club during the pre-season and, in his own words, said that he has been so welcomed and so helped out by other members during a difficult year personally, that it was an easy decision for him to make.
The club can now look forward to high player retention and plan their recruitment strategy.
This week’s Hub Automotive Volunteer Awards go to Ros Lane and Carmel Kingston for their ongoing work within the netball department.
Many thanks to these two ladies for their valuable contributions of the club.
AFL Premiership player Campbell Brown will be attending the annual Golden Roo Dinner next Wednesday.
The former Hawthorn and Gold Coast player will be at John Foord Oval from 4pm running a training clinic with junior players, before moving onto the dinner at 7pm where he’ll share stories and experiences from his illustrious career.
The All Australian played 149 games for Hawthorn where he was part of the 2008 premiership side, then moving onto the Gold Coast Suns where his career ended abruptly in 2014.
Campbell was well known for his hard-nosed play on the field and acutely skilled at getting under the skin of his opponent.
His life after football has been much similar, where he has applied his ‘tell it how it is’ mentality to his footy commentary.
Roos President Graham Hosier is delighted to have Brown on board for the dinner and is looking forward to what promises to be an entertaining night for those attending.
“The dinner has been running for 39 years and we’re grateful that prominent footballers are always willing to participate at the club’s marquee event of the year,” he said.
“The night allows us the opportunity to say thanks to our members and sponsors who have helped keep the tradition alive.”
The Golden Roo Dinner is at 7pm Wednesday 17 July at the clubrooms.
Golden Roos will be issued a ticket while guests can enjoy the event for $120.
Contact Graham Hosier or Rowena Black or shop online at the club’s website.
Tickets are out now for the Kanga Cash Draw and available from players or board members.
To be held at the Clubrooms from 12 noon to 4pm on Sunday 21 July, $50 entry gives you the chance to share in $7,000 in prize money.
Finger food and drinks are included in the price.
Marc Almond walked away from the club $400 better off after being named the lucky winner of the Golden Roo draw that is held after each home game.
Golden Roos need to be in attendance to win the prize which jackpots by $200 each home game until won.
