Great sportsmanship on show

With the cold weather setting in, there were some Deniliquin District Soccer players out this week with illness.

What was really great to see was players stepping up and filling in positions.

There were even some players that volunteered to play for the opposition to make the game fairer, more fun and help the younger players that stepped up.

What a great show of sportsmanship that our players are showing, congratulations.

A-grade:

Another week where every team got a win. This is going to be a hard year to split the teams for the finals.

Mariners 5 d United 2.

United 4 d Heart 2.

Best - Elka Connelly; Sportsman - Roché Du Toit.

Heart 1 d United 0.

Best - Issiah Ledwidge, Enzo Sztejman; Sportsman - Braith Gow.

B1-grade:

The skills in B1-grade are continuing to develop with many players trying out the header skills.

In Heart vs Mariners Gabrielle Jansen showed some excellent goal keeping skill. It wasn’t enough though to keep Heart from scoring and taking the match.

The coaches could not separate the players in United this week and nominated the whole team for best on ground.

United 5 d Victory 1.

Best - Travis Hanns and United Team; Sportsman - William Steenholdt.

B2-grade:

United appear to be getting their team play coordinated and ran away with a big win against Victory this week.

In the other match, three C-grade players stepped to fill in the Heart team. Monique Crothers and Harvey Campbell assisted Heart to help them stay competitive.
