Jazmin, 14, is based in the North East zone of the academy so will travel to Shepparton once a month rather than Bendigo to receive the specialist training.
She will be receiving both on-court and off-court coaching as part of the academy.
“I’ll receive specialised netball coaching and will also learn about injury prevention, diet and nutrition, social media, public speaking and integrity in sport,” Jazmin said
“We will take classes focusing on that sort of stuff before we go out and train.
“The aim of this academy is to fast track us, and hopefully prepare us for state netball level one day — so it’s a great opportunity.”
The academy invite is another entry on the laundry list of sporting accolades Jazmin has achieved in the recent past.
For the past two years, Jazmin played for Girgarre Netball Club, where she won the U15 best and fairest and made the grand final.
She was awarded two best on court medals in the finals and placed seventh in the league best and fairest, all at the age of 12, only turning 13 at the end of the season.
Jazmin was also part of the Kyabram Netball Association fast five U15 competition in 2018, where her team won the grand final and she shot the winning goal.
Jazmin stepped up to the Goulburn Valley league in 2018, playing for Kyabram Netball Club’s U15 side where she won players’ player and placed fourth in the club best and fairest.
The invite to the academy comes after Jazmin was selected from more than 70 netballers in trials.
Bendigo Academy coach Di Hanslow sought Jazmin out to play for her Mooroopna’s U17 side in 2019 to receive specialist coaching and prepare her for state netball in the future.
“It was an extremely difficult decision to leave my friends at Kyabram, but I believe heading to Mooroopna under Di will assist my future netball ambitions,” Jazmin said.
“I’m nervous but I know what to expect having done it last year. I’m more excited than nervous because I know how good it will be for my game.”
