It was Bulldogs’ second successive loss after winning their first three games and the loss has resulted in them dropping to sixth place on the ladder.
The Bulldogs hung in for a half after leading at quarter time following an impressive opening quarter. But when Undera put the foot down in the third term the visitors couldn’t hack the pace.
Campbell’s 10-goal haul was a telling contribution in the win and topped off the tireless work of Ash and Shannon Hockey, Rhys McKenzie, Cody Tancred and Jake Harjo who all put in top games for the home side.
Merrigum’s best players were Dylan Fitzgerald, Jason Sinclair and Ciaran Hubble.
Josh Smith, Sam Barbagallo and Jason Christoe also tried hard but didn’t get enough support to make a serious challenge for victory in the second half.
■Lancaster came off second best in a tightly contested low-scoring clash with Murchison-Toolamba at Murchison.
The Wombats could manage only two behinds in a dour second half on their way to a 21-point loss.
Tom Kerrins continued his fine season to inspire the combine and got plenty of support from Adam McGibbon, also enjoying a good season, Shane Kay, Luke Jones and Craig Thompson.
Dan Monur’s three goals and Ashton Cashion’s two were also valuable contributions in the arm wrestle.
Nippy Lachy Firmer was a standout for Lancaster and received a lot of support from Zac Cerrone, Nathan Torney and Nic Ryan.
Adam Vick and Austin Bizzotto also were solid for the losers but a lack of a dominant forward hurt the Wombats badly.
■Girgarre gradually wore down the visiting Dookie United to claim its third win for the season.
United was seven points up at half-time but Girgarre upped the ante in the third term to hit the front at the last change.
Then in the last term it produced its best footy for the game to kick five goals while holding United to one to run out winners by 31 points.
It was the efforts of Tom Walsh, the consistent Ash Kirchhofer, Ash Hughes and Shannon Tucker who inspired the Girgarre revival while Callum Harding-Davies’ four goals was a telling contribution.
Hayden Phillips and Luke Whykes also did a lot of good work for the winners while Dookie’s best were Luke O’Sullivan, Brodie Grook, Will Bagley and Connor Hayes.
■Stanhope, as expected, had no problems in brushing struggling neighbour Rushworth aside in a one-sided affair at Stanhope.
It took the Tigers to the third term to kick their first and only goal for the game in a 131-point loss.
Brayden Kearns, with five goals, showed Stanhope the way with a dominating display while Jorge Maxwell also added scoreboard pressure with four majors along with Jonathan Pearson and Drew Haebich with three goals each.
Sam Woodward, Jesse Olsen and Matt Gill also had good games for the winners.
Daniel Doolan, Pat Coughlan, Troy Damon, Brett Anderson and Bradie Chillingsworth battled hard against the odds for Rushworth.
■In the match of the day reigning premier Tallygaroopna outclassed Avenel in an impressive 42-point win.
Tally led at every change with Alex Tattersall, Tim Karolidis, Josh Wellington and Sam Muggleton all prominent in setting up the win.
Josh McDonald, Kyle Maynard, Paul Arandt and Dean Gillies tried hard to rally the Swans, but the reigning premier had all the answers.
■In the other two games, Violet Town and Nagambie had percentage-boosting wins over the winless Longwood and Ardmona respectively.
Jack Cripps booted eight goals and along with Mark Baker, Jack Broughton and Kevin Kiernan led the Towners to a 108-point win over Longwood.
Rob Mullen, Julian Ross, Nathan Watson and Lachy Cox were best for Longwood.
In Nagambie’s 160-point win over Ardmona Mick Shiels, Mark Wilson and David Comi were in everything while Ben Hutton booted seven goals.
Charles Jackson, Cody Law and Quentin Woods could hold their heads high for Ardmona.
