Blues cruise past hapless Katandra

TONGALA is on the verge of entering the Murray League top eight after its biggest win for the season on Sunday.

The Blues hammered winless Katandra by 75 points in their WorkSafe clash at Katandra to record their third win for the season.

Tongala was in control for most of the game and led at every change.

Coach Jordan Souter, Riley Bacon, Coby McCarthy and Jack Hammond instigated a lot of the successful Tongala forward sorties where Mark Watson, Mackenzie Ryan and Jesse Robilliard were only too happy to oblige.

Watson bagged four goals in a best on ground display, Ryan chipped in with four and Robilliard three.

The win lifted Tongala to ninth spot on the ladder, equal on premiership points with eighth-placed Finley and seventh-placed Congupna, who have a superior percentage.

The Blues have another road trip and a huge challenge after the league bye this weekend, taking on fourth-placed Cobram, who have had only one loss for the season.

■It was a big day footy-wise for Tongala on Sunday with its reserves, Under 17s and Under 14s all bringing home decisive wins.

The reserves held third place on the ladder with a 60-point win.

Jesse Moran, with six goals, was able to capitalise on the work of Bryce Denham, Riley Cowley, Anthony Dennis, Sam Tyler and Daniel Maher in particular.

■The Under 17s had 45 points to spare at the finish of their clash in which Mackenzie Cowley was a standout and well supported by Max Watson, Noah Densley, Hunter Booth, Jay Matthes and Blake O’Mara.

■The Under 14s romped to a 109-point win on the back of another dazzling display by Harley Reid who booted seven goals.

Tristan Watson, Kade Northausen, Josh Murray, Dylan Moore and Dylan Scoble also played dominant roles in the runaway win.
