The women’s event started last Wednesday with a field of 131 playing 18 holes over the day. Overnight leader Keely Marx from the Victorian state squad put in a solid performance with 60 off the stick, one shot in front of multiple winner Jessica Pickwick, and Cobram local Steph Vogel another shot behind.
Local players featured in the winner’s circle with Heather Sleeth taking out the B Grade Gross Championship and minor events going to Sally Powderham.
The final round of the women’s competition saw the pairing of the overall leaders – Keely Marx found the going tough, and Steffi Vogel and Jessica Pickwick finished their two rounds equal, leading into sudden death playoff on the 18th. It only took the one hole to establish the winner with both girls driving onto the green, Jessica had a 15m putt for birdie, while Stephanie only had a 4m shot. Both girls missed their putts for birdie and Jessica again missed for par while Steph finished off the win with a par. It’s Stephanie’s first Par 3 win after coming runner up last year.

With a strong representation from the Victorian Junior Boys representative team the Victorian Par 3 Men’s Championship was destined to be a great finish — and it didn’t disappoint.
Overnight leader Jasper Stubbs was paired with a master of the short game Ray Walker 3 shots behind and Matthew Edwards a further 2 shots behind.
After 54 holes it came down to another playoff for the 2019 Men’s title between Jasper Stubbs and Matthew Edwards after both having 172 off the stick. The 18th hole provided a great arena for the 2 players to showcase their talent. Jasper missed the green left and Edwards hit the green. The chip of Stubbs fell somewhat short and although Edwards missed the putt but securing a par, Stubbs couldn’t make the putt to save the game – declaring the 2019 winner Matthew Edwards.
Local players to fare well in the event were Paul McInnes taking out the C grade 54 Gross Championship, 18 hole Nett Round 2, Teams event and a Nearest the Pin. Sam Attardi, Wayne Ferguson and Nathan Richards also took home trophies in the event.
The week long event was a huge success with the support of Major Sponsor – Kyabram Club, and numerous local sponsors and Parkland members volunteering over the week. Golf Australia are looking forward to the event being held at Parkland in 2020.
