Echuca Lions Club golf day coordinator Barry Higgins said the funds were raised at the annual golf event in March.
‘‘The fundraiser was made possible by the generosity of Rich River Golf Club who donated the use of the golf course for the day,’’ he said.
‘‘We also want to thank the various small businesses in the area that donated items and the individuals who paid to participate in the competition.’’
ERH chief executive Nick Bush said the donation would support the development of the new cancer and wellness centre, which recently received a $6 million pledge from the Victorian Government.
‘‘To have support such as this $10,000 which has been donated tonight, thanks to the hard work of Barry and his team, is just fantastic,’’ he said.
‘‘I came out here on the golf day and presented the trophies and there was a great spirit of can-do and camaraderie among the lions and it’s a credit to this club.
‘‘This donation will certainly make a big difference and hopefully care for local people in the local area so they don’t have to travel so far for cancer therapy and treatment.’’
