The concept of a circular economy is based on the use of waste streams to manufacture sustainable products.
The forum has been organised by the Goulburn Murray Resilience Taskforce — a group made up of community, business and government leaders that is working to build resilience in the region.
Taskforce chair Sarah Thomson said a circular economy was the way of the future.
“We are exploring ways to create cleaner and greener methods of manufacturing so that we can prosper at the same time as removing waste and improving our environment,” Ms Thomson said.
“These kinds of products are in demand now and will be even more so in the future.”
The keynote speaker at the forum is internationally renowned engineer and inventor Veena Sahajwalla.
“This is a unique opportunity to listen to and engage with Veena and her team from the University of NSW SMaRT centre,” Ms Thomson said.
“They are at the cutting edge of recycling science and it will be great to pick their brains about how we can work together to make these opportunities come to life.”
The forum is being held on Wednesday, June 22 at Agriculture Victoria in Tatura.
