Berrigan and district turned out in droves to celebrate a big spring racing event on the local calendar, despite the rainy conditions.

In between the patches of rain, the committee was able to run a highly successful event, getting through a full card of exciting country racing and the much anticipated Fashions on the Field.
There were cheers all round when Berrigan trainer Shilleagh Meyervale claimed the coveted Berrigan Cup with Marchello, ridden by Bradley Vale.
“We were really excited with how the day went in the end,” Racing Club secretary, Carolyn Alexander said.
“We weren't sure how the gate numbers would go with bad weather predicted, but credit to all the patrons who came and to the hard working committee members and race officials for pulling together another successful race day.
“One of our very own committee members won the Gold cup as well so that was a bonus on the day to see local success.”
The large crowds was treated to live performances, and an increase in the number of marquees made for an exciting social day.
The weather did wreak havoc for those participating the the Fashions on the Field events, with winds threatening to blow off fascinators and hats.
While the women on the day brought their A-game, putting together ensembles of floral hats and head accessories, elegant, streamlined dresses and two piece outfits with high heals and footwear to match any runway model.
The men donned a collection of fashion forward and risky Hawaiian shirts, custom made floral suits, brave colours and bow ties.

Lady of the Day - Cath Brooks, Barooga.
Man of the Day - Richard Nixon, Oaklands.
Couple of the Day - Rebecca Scott & Glen Feldtmann, Cobram.
