IT ISN'T every day the world stops to thank those who donate their time and energy to worthy causes.
But next Thursday will be different.
On December 5, Kyabram Fauna Park and Campaspe Murray Vibrant Volunteer Network will proudly support International Volunteer Day, with entry costing just $5 per person, to say thanks to our local vollies.
It's part of the United Nations’ annual International Volunteer Day to celebrate volunteers’ contributions, which has ran since 1985.
This year's theme is "volunteer for an inclusive future", to promote equality through volunteerism locally, nationally and internationally, which improves our communities.
It allows people often excluded from conventional activities a chance to improve their lives while using their time and skills to make change that strengthens solidarity, inclusion and community engagement.
All volunteers in Kyabram and district will be able to enjoy morning tea at the fauna park from 9.30am onward to raise awareness about the important role volunteers play in responding to challenges local communities around the world face each day.
Those attending can RSVP with their volunteer co-ordinator or contact Alma Limbrick on 5484 4485 or email [email protected]
