Whether it is building a community veggie garden or playground, aiding emergency services with much-needed equipment, or developing an educational program at your local school, Fonterra want to help.
Fonterra regional operation manager Steve Taylor said the program was their way of partnering with the community to make a difference.
“Just last year we supported the Stanhope Community Pool, St Joseph’s Primary School, Stanhope Fire Brigade and the Stanhope Girgarre Rushworth Giants Junior Football Club, to name a few, and it’s great to hear what they’ve been able to achieve through the fund,” he said.
“All of these groups play a part in keeping our communities thriving — it’s important to us, our people, and our farmers that we play a part in this as well.
“We couldn’t do what we do without our communities, and for us at Stanhope, that’s making great-tasting cheese that people around the world know and love.”
To be eligible, initiatives must fit within one of three criteria — the initiative must bring communities together through rural activities and events, support healthy lifestyles such as sporting equipment for clubs, or care for the environment through projects such as recycling or tree planting.
Applications are open until March 5.
