To be held on the Winter Solstace, Tuesday, June 21, at 6.30pm, it will feature a live stream of the Survivors of Suicide & Friends Winter Solstice event.
It is an annual event that has been held in Albury since 2013.
It’s website explains the meaning behind, and reason for, holding it on that date:
The significance of the Solstice held on the longest night of the year is intended to reflect the way mental illness can plunge us into what feels like inescapable darkness — and yet, the morning will come, always giving way to light.
The event includes live music and keynote speakers including Shane Howard, one of Australia's most influential writers and singers.
BSPAN’s Gayle Golonski said the event was designed to help remember and reflect, and to share the love with those touched by suicide.
“Anyone in the community who has been affected by suicide can attend,” Ms Golonski said.
BSPAN works to support Suicide Prevention and Awareness activities within Benalla Rural City and surrounds.
