As well as being recognised for her long service to Vinnies, Daphne Greaves was also made a life member of the organisation recently.
Ms Greaves volunteers at the Vinnies Deniliquin conference and everyone at Deniliquin Vinnies would like to thank her for her valuable support which is extremely appreciated.
The recognition comes as the organisation recognises all of its volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week this week, and acknowledges the invaluable contribution their wonderful volunteers make in the delivery of services to their communities.
National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and all volunteer organisations say ‘thank you’, for without their volunteers tireless contributions these organisations would not exist.
These tireless efforts do not go unnoticed by the society.
Deniliquin Vinnies also recognised John Maher who has given 10 years of service to the Deniliquin conference and Nella Denaro who has given five years of service.
Raelene Eddy and Heather Fleming, who have given 10 years of service to the Deniliquin Vinnies shop, and Margaret Stanworth, who has volunteered at the shop for five years, were also recognised.
They all continue to volunteer and their contribution is so appreciated.
The Vinnies shop in Deniliquin has a very friendly, social environment and the work provides a special sense of satisfaction you get from helping others and learning new skills.
Various tasks include sorting donated goods, serving at the counter, clerical, basic computer, interviewing and listening to people in need.
With busy lives it can be hard to find time to volunteer. However, the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you and your community and is a great way to make new friends, build relationships and learn new skills.
Vinnies is calling for people in Deniliquin to consider volunteering with them in the shop or conference at Napier St.
Men and women of all ages and denominations are welcome and encouraged to join. Vinnies would love to see some of the younger members of the community to volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering, visit the Vinnies shop.
