Chairperson Don Cook was reinstalled, and said the support of secretary Gavon Armstrong and treasurer John Neale over many years was pivotal for the group.
He also thanked the wider community in Kyabram, Tongala, Stanhope, Merrigum, Lancaster and Girgarre for their generous support, which was greatly appreciated.
The guest speaker was Campaspe Shire councillor Colleen Gates, who gave an insight into what Legacy meant to her growing up in the Geelong region.
Cr Gates invoked fond memories for those present when she discussed the various activities she did as a child.
This including going to the leisure centre in Geelong, various holiday camps, widow bus excursions and even the wood deliveries for widows she did with her father.
Cr Gates’s talk was entertaining for those present but also had a parallel meaning for all the legatees and partners present.
It was a reminder that Legacy is a unique Australian organisation and even though some things have changed the same legacy of care still exists today.
Victorian National Party leader Peter Walsh, in his response on behalf of guests, complimented Legacy on the positive attitude within the group and concluded the luncheon was a positive step forward towards the full resumption of all activities.
