The Tungamah Football Netball Club and the Tungamah community can now enjoy updated facilities including a gymnasium which was officially opened on Saturday.

The $900,000 upgrade involved the demolition of the old changerooms and construction of new facilities included home and away rooms, trainers’ rooms, umpires’ rooms, an accessible toilet, shower and a gymnasium.
The project was jointly funded by the Tungamah Football Netball Club, Moira Shire Council and the Australian Government Drought Communities Programme with members of TFNC, Moira Shire Councillors and Mayor and Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell in attendance to cut the ribbon.
Tungamah Football Netball Club President Josh Buerckner said the club was grateful for the grant and upgrades with the new facilities being state of the art and a great addition for the community.
“It is a multipurpose facility with the PCYC gym right next door to the football changerooms,” Mr Buerckner said.
“This will ensure that our footballers and netballers will be able to purchase a membership and continue their training and fitness regimes in the off season at the venue.
“The building is also large enough for functions or conferences going forward if there is demand for them.
“With strong junior programs in place and such great facilities it puts the club in a great position going forward.”
The upgraded facilities include new home and away rooms, trainers’ rooms, umpires’ rooms, an accessible toilet, shower and a gymnasium.

Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell said it was a great addition for TFNC and the wider community particularly after previous years.
“Moira Shire council received close to $1 million from the previous coalition government’s ‘Drought Communities Fund’,” Mr Birrell said.
“Moira elected to spend $250,000 of this funding on the relocation of the community gym into this new space and also included the upgrade to the existing football changeroom facilities to incorporate two unisex change rooms with both shower and toilet facilities; a medical and first aid room; and two unisex umpire change rooms.
“The new facilities will vastly improve the experience of the Tungamah Football and Netball club players and visiting teams.
“The Nationals fought hard in government for this funding, ensuring that regional communities such as Tungamah get looked after, particularly after some tough agricultural seasons that were endured a few years back.”
