At last month’s council meeting, councillors endorsed a number of local projects that met the criteria to be part of the government’s $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Geodetic Rd North at Mathieson, Singer Rd in Lockington and Winter Rd in Nanneella have been earmarked for shoulder grading.
High St and Cohen St in Rochester, School Rd in Corop, Tait Hamilton Rd at Cornella and Gobarup and Kennedy Rd at Gobarup will have new or upgraded culverts.
Edward St, Rochester will also be line-marked, as it is considered a wide street.
Yambuna Bridge Rd, Yambuna will be stabilised and have road shoulders graded.
Collins St, Colbinabbin will receive a $250,000 upgrade.
“This (funding) is part of a program to help communities to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Cr Leigh Wilson said at the August meeting.
“What is listed is a series of projects that have been identified across the shire in a whole range of infrastructure categories.
“It’s certainly a fantastic outcome for council to receive in excess of $2 million through this program.”
The $2,622,795 is allocated to be spent this financial year.
